Wait, Have I Seen You Before?
Yes... this is not my first time writing this.
Before I start introducing myself and this blog, I'd like to preface that The Indie Gaming Cookie did not originally start here in Blogger. Actually, I started blogging over at WordPress, having already published 12 articles before making the switch.
Why did I switch? Well, WordPress sucks balls. I made The Indie Gaming Cookie mostly for random indie gaming nerds to read it (as well as my friends), but it had too many damn ads! I don't wanna make money off this shit!
If for some reason you're interested in reading the WordPress version, you can see it here: https://cookiejarwp.wordpress.com/
Anyway, here I am now, simply hoping Blogspot is somewhat better.
(ORIGINAL POST DATE: OCTOBER 15, 2024)
Whenever parents give birth to a new offspring, they stand beside the operating table, tensely waiting for their dearest child’s first words. I feel my heart palpitate as I find myself much in a similar vein to a parent with a newborn. Now, I listen to this baby speak for the first time:
Hey! I’m CookieJar, and this is my blog, The Indie Gaming Cookie, serving as an informal outlet for me to talk about my one passion: indie games, and, in particular, indie game development!
A Word of Caution
I would like to emphasize here now that I am not a professional, and my words — my bouncing baby words — cannot and should not be used as a reliable source. Treat this site not as the work of a veteran who’s been ’round the block for decades, but as the work of a bored teenager who decided that, at October 15, 2024, they would create a blog site. How riveting.
Who’s in Charge?
A weird 18-year-old kid who got too bored and decided to start blogging their dumb opinions on indie games and their development.
I’ve been playing games since time immemorial, back when dinosaurs still roamed the Earth, with my fellow buddy Zeus. My experience in game development, on the other hand, is fairly recent, with me dipping my toes into game development 5 years ago, and only diving deeper years later. I’ve now been making games for a little more than a year.
As per my taste in games, I enjoy most genres, with fighting games being the only real exception. You maybe shouldn’t trust my opinion on rhythm games either; I suck at them.
What to Expect?
Game recommendations, reviews, articles, opinion pieces, development updates (for games I’m making), in addition to some horse crap. Expect a lot of horse crap.
Is This Worth Reading?
No.
I made this site mostly to practice my writing, critical thinking, and journalism skills, plus a bit of my site-building and pixel-art skills as well. In short: I made this mostly for myself, and if you like reading my stuff, I guess that’s job well done.
